2012 IECC Building Codes

2012 IECC Building Energy Codes

In the Kansas City Metropolitan Area, the cities of Olathe, Shawnee, Leawood, Gardner, DeSoto, unincorporated Johnson County, Mission, and in Douglas County the City of Lawrence, Kansas have all adopted the HERS certification as an optional compliance path to section 11 of the 2012 IRC (International Residential Code). The changes to the 2012 IECC (International Energy Conservation Code) require more insulation, a tighter envelope, better windows, more efficient lighting, and tighter ducts.
